      Grades 9-12 Aubrey LaRoux hasn't been back to Waverly Prep since she was a student suspected of involvement in another student's disappearance. Now a teacher, Aubrey's presence at Waverly is again under suspicion as her arrival has coincided with the disappearance of Lindsey Gillett. A group of students--who often seem more like adults than teenagers--manipulate Aubrey into working with them to solve not only Lindsey's disappearance but also the fates of four other girls who have gone missing from Waverly since the '90s. But can Aubrey, under the watchful and unfaltering gaze of principal Sara Probst, solve the mystery and discover what other secrets her students might be hiding, before more people end up murdered or missing? With a focus on an adult protagonist, Weis' novel seems somewhat unsure of its audience, with a number of scenes crossing into melodramatic territory, but young adults will undoubtedly still find much to enjoy. This is an intriguing and atmospheric tale of murder and mayhem that will keep readers wondering what could possibly happen next.
