BERNARDO CUBRÍA • A Mexican-born playwright based in Los Angeles, Bernardo Cubría has written Crabs in a Bucket, The Play You Want, and The Hispanic/Latino/Latina/Latinx/Latine Vote. His newest, The People of Pompeii, runs at Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum in L.A.’s Topanga Canyon, Aug. 1-Oct. 4.
PHANÉSIA PHAREL • The Haitian American playwright and screenwriter from Miami made her Off-Broadway debut earlier this year at WP Theater with her play The Waterfall. Next, at Barrington Stage Company, in a co-production with Goodman Theatre and Hartford Stage, is Pharel’s newest work, Dead Girl’s Quinceañera, taking the stage Aug. 5-29.

In 2024, their descendants star on a controversial reality television show, which invites a group of Armenian Americans to shoot an episode about their culture.
