RUN WILD • A Rum Fellow’s new collection, Wild Abandon, comprises stripes, bands, plaids and checks across cotton fabrics and a flat-weave rug, rooted in Welsh tapestry tradition and handwoven by artisan partners in Guatemala and India. ‘This collection is about the spirit of the handmade,’ says Caroline Lindsell, co-founder and creative director, arumfellow.com.

Elsie’s Daughters • A creative spirit passed down through generations inspired founder Isabel Zarth to take her illustrative career a step further

Lovely table linens • A beautifully laid table delivers on sunshine when the weather doesn’t! Mixing and matching floral prints is a great way to bring the outside in. Start with a vibrant tablecloth to set the tone – a contrasting runner adds depth. Build on the theme with embellished place mats and napkins with patterns in varying scales. Keep colours consistent and use natural weaves to ground the look.

SUMMING UP BANQUETTES • The perfect banquette seat is more than a bench: seat depth, back rest angle and space for your feet all go into the best designs. Aim for a seat height of 450-480mm from floor to cushion top, a seat depth of 450-500mm, and 500-600mm seat width per person. For comfort, the back rest should be angled at 98-105 degrees, while an angled base or toe kick of 80-100mm allows for feet.

SIMPLY PERFECT • A group of historic cattle sheds surrounding a pretty courtyard had already been converted into a home, then Julie Daniells spotted its true potential

DAIRY QUEEN • Julie created a characterful scheme with weathered wood and exposed brick

FIRST STEPS • Nisha and Idris Mohandas struck lucky when they chanced upon the characterful country cottage full of period charm and rustic simplicity that became their first home

COSY CORNER • For Nisha’s modern country scheme, mix natural finishes with soft neutrals

CREATIVE THINKING • By moving to a smaller flint-fronted cottage, interior designer Jojo Humes has embraced a simpler way of living, creating a warm, sociable home defined by creativity

SQUARE DANCE • Get Jojo’s cosy charm with reclaimed finds and a palette of blue and brown

QUIET BEAUTY • With its graceful proportions and a palette of warm neutrals, the Victorian home of architects Craig Smith and Holly Gare is a lesson in less-is-more

LIGHT WORKS • Craig and Holly’s intentionally simple space is enhanced by antiques

RAISE YOUR VASES • With its rich, reactive glaze and organic, textural shape, this ruffled vase design looks as good empty as it does graced with flowers. Don’t be afraid to keep your display minimal; a few stems are all you need, and the shaped neck will hold them beautifully. Use different height vases propped on books to add vitality to your tabletop. Cori vases, from £65, Broste Copenhagen

Feast for friends • Bring a surprising touch to your seasonal table with a centrepiece display made from sculptural mushrooms, their delicate pastel tones reflected in the prettiest table linens and accessories
