Choose Your Own Adventure QUILTS • Laura Veenema’s quilts are made for adventures — whether that be spread out on the grass to watch the kids’s soccer match, being carried through the forest in search of the best picnic spot or used to build cosy indoor forts and soft cubbyhouses. The improvisation style she teaches also gives quilters the freedom to build a unique design. With triangles, chequerboards, half-circles and stripes, Laura invites us to pick and choose and mix and match different patterns and shapes to craft our own (patchwork) story.

Spring Fling QUILT • Perth designer Karen Wishart began quilting in the early 90s, applying her love for mathematics to geometric patchwork. A prolific creator (with a whopping 83 published patterns between 2007 and 2017), she currently designs from her hilltop home, where a visiting mob of kangaroos often stops by to ’mow’ the front lawn. Karen also enjoys winter knitting and crocheting and is a member of the Embroiderers’ Guild of Western Australia. Karen created the Spring Fling quilt with love, making one for each of her twin granddaughters.

PRETTY POISONOUS CROSS STITCH • Always creating and crafting in some way, Jane Elliott rediscovered her love of cross stitch during a challenging five years of cancer treatment. She enjoys colourful and modern designs and loves sharing the benefits of being slow and focused and the satisfaction of displaying the finished pieces. Jane and her mini dachshund Frankie often curl up on the couch with a coffee, a true crime series and WIP (one of many on the go at once)! This pattern was designed to celebrate some of Australia’s prettiest poisonous plants: Foxglove, Yellow Fireweed and Pink Oleander.

Australian Rosellas CROSS STITCH • From their home on the East Coast of Australia, twin sisters Helen and Ruth create unique, contemporary cross-stitch patterns. Inspired by local flora and fauna, their work features a bold, limited colour palette designed for both impact and ease. Each project, including these four beautiful rosellas, offers a vibrant insight into the colourful way Helen and Ruth see the world.

TULIP WONDERLAND QUILT • The butterflies and ladybirds that flitter amongst the flowers and trees in this wonderful quilt certainly feel like they’re living in wonderland. But when Kate Henderson of Two Little Banshees picked up this pretty stash of fabric called Wonderland by Momo for Moda Fabrics, she felt it needed just one more flower added to the mix.

Falling Hexies CROCHET BAG • Kylie Moleta is a Melbourne-based freelance crochet designer and the creative force behind Stitched Up Craft, where she shares her vibrant, colour-rich patterns with a global community of makers. Building on the success of her debut book, A Year of Granny Squares, she is currently immersed in developing her second publication, for release in 2027.
